Stress is the feeling we get when we’re under too much mental or emotional pressure, and we feel like we can’t cope any more. We all deal with it differently - some of us even thrive on it and use it as a motivator to help get things done - but too much stress can have a negative effect, making us feel anxious and lowering our self-esteem and confidence. In this session you’ll learn techniques and coping strategies to manage your stress levels and help you to work towards a calmer, more relaxed lifestyle.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

You don’t need any knowledge of the subject or previous experience. Just an interest and enthusiasm to learn!

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

Please bring along a notebook and pen. We are following safety guidelines so, at the moment, we are unable to provide these for you.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught and supported by an experienced and enthusiastic tutor, take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work and receive support for your own ideas.

What will I learn?

On the course you will learn personal strategies for dealing with excessive stress, how to challenge unhelpful thoughts and how to incorporate more relaxation into your daily life.

What could I do next?

This three hour course does not naturally lead onto a longer course, however, if you feel that you need more support in this area, our mental toughness and resilience course may be the right next step for you. Your course tutor will discuss this with you in the session as well as any other health and wellbeing courses that may be available to you. You may want to consider mindfulness, self-esteem and confidence building or any of our arts, crafts and creative courses.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
