If you’re new to scriptwriting and are not quite sure where to begin, then this FREE two-hour taster session will give you an introduction to scriptwriting, starting right at the beginning with the basics.
You’ll learn about what scriptwriting is and how it has been used both historically and in the modern world by looking at a range of examples. You’ll then be able to have a go at writing your own sample of scriptwriting and have the opportunity to receive some feedback on your work, so you can get a taste of writing in this format and decide whether you’d like to pursue the topic further.
You will learn:
At East Riding Adult Learning and Employability we pride ourselves on the support we give to our learners, from the very first time you contact us, to the day you achieve your goals.
If you choose to learn with us you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in small, friendly and welcoming groups, have the opportunity to take part in a range of activities to practice your skills. You’ll be encouraged to continue to apply what you’ve learned when you’re away from the classroom and you’ll receive lots of encouragement and feedback to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us to ensure that you always feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.
You don’t need any experience of scriptwriting at all, just an interest in the subject and the willingness to get involved and to have a go at putting pen to paper.
We recommend that you bring a notebook and a pen.
There are so many things you can learn with East Riding of Yorkshire Adult Learning and Employability! It really does depend on you and what you want to achieve. Our friendly teams will support you in deciding your next move, whether this is progression to our full Creative writing: scriptwriting course or whether you’d like to expand your horizons and sign up to a creative writing or poetry course instead.
If you’d like to improve your English skills outside of scriptwriting, you might like to look at our Functional Skills English course offer or make an appointment to speak to a Personal Adviser to find out more about our courses.
You might instead choose to learn a completely new skill, join one of our employability programmes, take part in some family learning, practice mindfulness, learn more about mental health, or improve your maths or digital skills.
Whatever you choose, you can be confident that our teams will be able to support you every step of the way
You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
