Patchwork and quilting are both traditional, relaxing and captivating crafts.  Combining these methods to make your own project will give you the opportunity to create your own, unique and individual designs, perhaps upcycling fabrics from your own or your child’s favourite old clothes to create a ‘memory patchwork’.

This course will equip you with the basic skills to make a cushion panel or other small item to take home with you and enable you to go on to make colourful quilts, throws, wall hangings and more.

You’ll work in a small, friendly group of like minded people; you’ll make new friends, learn new skills and be able to make cheap home furnishings to keep you winter warm!

What will I learn?

On this course you will learn:

  • the different tools and techniques to use when making simple patchwork and quilted items.
  • how to use templates to cut out and stitch shapes together to create different projects
  • the basics of quilting and adding further layers to complete your project
  • how to construct a patchwork cushion panel
