If you’d like to start writing about the life experiences of yourself or others and are not quite sure where to begin, then you might like to sign up to this course for an introduction to life writing, starting right at the beginning with the basics.
On this course you’ll learn about a range of different life writing formats, such as memoir, biography and autobiography. Next, you’ll focus on different themes commonly associated with life writing and how you can approach these in your writing, such as recounting key life events, describing travel experiences and expressing emotions and feelings. You’ll also learn about techniques for planning, researching and composing your life writing, so you can experiment with different aspects of the writing process.
In each session you'll have the chance to share your work and to receive feedback from your writing group. Your tutor will also provide constructive feedback and support to help you to build confidence in expressing your ideas, to help you to feel empowered to carry on writing and developing your skills beyond the end of your course.

This course is aimed at intermediate-level creative writers. You should have some experience of creative writing, be interested in expanding your knowledge even further and come along ready to put pen to paper in the sessions.
We recommend that you bring your preferred writing equipment, such as a notebook and a pen.
