Highly detailed and intricate design work is a staple of Mexican folk art. You’ll often see lines intertwining, floral patterns overlapping and the ornate intersection of a whole range of other elements. These will often be decorated in an array of bright colours, to create amazing vibrant works of art.
The patterns and motifs found in Mexican art are themselves intertwined with the culture of the country itself.
In this session you will work to create highly decorative and lively images typical of Mexican folk art. You will experiment with patterns and motifs and take home your own piece of art at the end of the course.
On this short course we will look at the use of pattern and motif in Mexican folk art – look at some of the more famous images such as those of Frida Kahlo and use your own patterns and motifs to create a Mexican influenced art image to take home with you.
