Have you mastered the technical aspects of photography and are now hungry to delve deeper into specific genres? The "Photography: Genre Mastery" course takes you on a journey through the diverse world of photography, equipping you with the skills and knowledge to excel in various styles.
This comprehensive course is designed for photographers with a solid foundation who are ready to explore the techniques used in specific types of photography, such as Portraiture, Flash and Landscape. Over 10 engaging hours, you'll explore the unique techniques, settings, and approaches used in popular photography genres. Through a mixture of theory, discussions, and practical exercises, you'll learn how to capture stunning images in landscapes, portraits, street photography, and more.

If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

Enthusiasm to learn more! You should have a good understanding of how to use your camera to take an image, and change the settings of your camera for different effects. If you want to brush up on the basics before starting, you could attend our Photography: The Basics course to learn more about how to use your camera effectively or our Photography: Camera Settings to learn more about how to adjust the settings to maximise effect.
You might find it helpful to bring a notebook and pen to help you with your learning. You should also bring your own camera.
You may wish to develop your skills further with our additional photography courses. Your tutor will provide more information about this at the end of your course. You may also consider some of our other Adult Learning courses in different subjects such as English, maths or digital.
