This free taster session gives you an insight into what you can do with your smartphone camera and is a great first step before completing our beginner-friendly “Smartphones and Tablets: Using the Camera” course. It will help you to determine whether the follow-on course is right for you.
On this course, you will learn:
This course is funded through Tailored Learning with the purpose of improving your essential digital skills. As this course is one of our taster sessions, we can offer this course for free.
At East Riding Adult Learning and Employability we pride ourselves on the support we give to our learners, from the very first time you contact us, to the day you achieve your goals.
If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.
Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.
A willingness to learn and a positive attitude! You should understand a little bit about the basics of using a smartphone or tablet to join this course. You should be able to navigate around your device and open applications. If you would like to learn more about this first, you might like to attend our Smartphones and Tablets: Getting to Grips.
You might find it useful to bring your own smartphone or tablet along to the session so that we can help you with using your very own device. We do have some tablets available in our centre for you to use if you do not have your own. You might also find it helpful to bring a notebook and pen to make some notes to help with your learning.
You can choose to complete the follow-on “Smartphones and Tablets: Using the Camera” course.
You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
