Would you like to inspire and support children and young people to learn?
If so, then this free Try course will give you an opportunity to meet one of our course tutors and to find out more about our Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification. In the session you’ll gain an overview of the different roles available in schools to help you to decide whether you’d like to explore the subject further and pursue a career in supporting teaching and learning in schools.
You will learn more about the role of the teaching assistant in a school environment and you’ll gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge you will need should you decide to follow this career path.

If you choose to join this Try course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group and receive lots of encouragement to help you to develop your knowledge and understanding, as well as your confidence.
Your tutor will give you advice to support you with your next steps and they’ll also tell you about all of the other learning opportunities that you have access to, including help with developing your maths, English and digital skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.
Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.
You should be interested in working in a support role within a school environment. You do not need to have any previous experience of working in schools to attend this course.
This course is delivered via virtual learning. You will not need to attend any physical delivery but you will need to commit to attending the remote session at the specified date and time. In order to participate in virtual sessions, you will need access to the following:
If you decide that you’d like to learn more and work towards the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification, you’ll be signposted to speak with one of our advisors, who will have a discussion with you about your goals and your current levels of English, maths and digital skills to make sure you’re ready for your next step.
If you are ready to proceed with your learning, you’ll then progress onto a five-week Introduction to Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course, where you’ll learn all about the range of roles and responsibilities that are likely be expected of you in a school environment. You’ll also get advice at that stage about securing the necessary school placement required during your study towards the qualification.
If you’re not quite ready to progress, your advisor will discuss other learning opportunities with you, such as improving your English, maths or digital skills.
