If you’re interested in taking up creative writing, but are not sure where to start, then this course could be the ideal opportunity you’ve been looking for to focus on the basics and learn the key foundations of creative writing.
On this course, you’ll have the opportunity to learn key techniques for planning your writing, profiling your characters, using different perspectives and developing your writerly voice. Your tutor will go through a range of techniques in each area, so you can experiment and find out what works for you and your writing. Your tutor will provide inspiration and encouragement, so you can have a go at each element of the writing process and build your knowledge and confidence.
In each session you’ll have the chance to share your work with other members of the group and to give and receive constructive criticism to help you to continue your development beyond the end of your course.

- How to use inspirational prompts to get you started with your writing
- How to develop character profiles
- How to use plot planning techniques
- How to use different points of view in your writing
- How to apply editing techniques to improve your writing.

We recommend that you bring your preferred writing equipment, such as a notebook and a pen.
