Whether it’s a special occasion, such as Valentine’s Day, or even if it is not, this Dine On For 2 meal is a real treat.
You will make delicious Salmon en croute (succulent salmon, smothered in a tasty spinach and cream cheese topping and encased in light, crispy puff pastry), served with potatoes and vegetables. Then, indulge yourself with a rich sticky toffee pudding, with a smooth toffee sauce.
We’ll give you tips on presentation to recreate a perfect restaurant meal.
You will follow the recipe, using weights and measures to work with the ingredients and temperatures, and timings to cook. This session aims to help increase your confidence with numbers, develop your cookery skills, and highlight possible progression to further learning opportunities.
As part of the session you will compare the costs of shopping list items, look at the nutritional and calorific value of ingredients, and learn how to add your own, personal touches to your cooking.
On this course, our tutor will guide you through the processes of preparing these recipes, giving you the confidence and skills needed to make them again. You will pick up some useful tips and tricks on how to present your dishes in the best way and also learn about the nutritional and cost benefits of home cooking.
This free course is funded through Muiltiply.
At East Riding Adult Learning and Employability we pride ourselves on the support we give to our learners, from the very first time you contact us, to the day you achieve your goals.
If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.
Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.
Just an enthusiasm to learn - we will be looking particularly at the numeracy elements of cookery (weighing, estimating, etc.).
Please note that East Riding of Yorkshire Council is unable to guarantee a completely allergen-free environment. If you would like more information prior to booking, please contact us.

You might choose instead to develop your English or digital skills or to work towards a qualification in these areas. Alternatively, you may decide to learn about mental health, neurodiversity, or employability skills, or explore our wider course offer, which includes topics such as photography, arts and crafts, and mindfulness.
