Do you want to be able to organise your files on your computer? Do you sometimes lose files or forget where you have saved them? Why not come along to our Using Your Computer: Files and Folders (Step 1) course! This single session will teach you the basics of locating your saved files, creating and renaming folders, and saving your files into neatly organised folders to help make it easier for you to find them at a later date.

You will become more confident in navigating the file explorer to find your folders and you will learn about the importance of having a good folder organisation system. This will help you to keep your documents organised and help you with both your work and/or personal life.

  • How to create, rename and delete files and folders.
  • How to save documents to your folders.

How much will it cost?

As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.

What do I need to join the course?

A willingness to learn and a positive attitude! You would benefit from knowing how to use a keyboard and mouse to interact with the computer and be able to open applications. What do I need to provide for the first session?

You might find it helpful to bring a notebook and pen to make some notes to help with your learning.

What could I do next?

You can choose to complete some of our other digital courses to improve your computer skills. As a next step, you could choose to learn about using the internet, or even managing your emails on a computer. If you want to deepen your understanding of using files and folders, you could come along to Using Your Computer: Files and Folders (Step 2) where you will learn more about creating subfolders and compressing files. You might also like to learn more about your smartphone or tablet by attending some of our smartphones and tablets courses.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
