What will I learn?

By the end of this session, you will learn:

• Understand money-saving tips and how to ‘shop smart’.
• Feel confident that you can make a household budget.
• Be able to review your household outgoings.
• Know where to find advice for reducing household bills and support for benefits.

How much will it cost?

This course is funded under Tailored Learning. If you’re aged 19 or over and live in the East Riding Of Yorkshire or surrounding area, this course will most likely be funded for you. We will discuss and check your eligibility, when you enrol on this course.

If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.

As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

What do I need to join the course?

You don’t need any qualifications or experience to join this course. It’s designed for adults who want to build confidence. The tutor and learning advisor will help make sure this course is the right fit for you and your goals.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

We’ll provide all the materials and resources you need for the course. Please bring a pen and some paper to take notes. Your tutor will make sure you feel welcome and ready to get started.

What could I do next?

This course will help you to build skills and confidence in managing money and your number skills. If you feel that you need further support, then speak to one of our team, who will be able to support.
