This short employability course will prepare you for different types of job interviews so you know what to expect from them.

You’ll be able to practise answering typical interview questions by clearly describing your skills, knowledge and experience, using the STAR method to structure responses.

The course also focuses on effective communication skills, including body language, tone and clarity, planning appropriate questions to ask at the end of an interview and reflecting on your performance to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

What will I learn?

On this course you will learn how to:

  • Describe different types of interviews (face-to-face, telephone, video, panel, group).
  • Prepare effectively for an interview by researching the employer and role.
  • Use the STAR method to structure responses to interview questions.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills including body language, tone and clarity.
  • Answer common interview questions confidently using examples from experience.
  • Plan appropriate questions to ask an employer at the end of an interview.
  • Reflect on your performance and identify areas for improvement.

What do I need to join the course?

You don’t need any qualifications or experience to join this course. Before you start you will have a chat with one of our advisors to make sure this is the right course for you.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

You will need to bring a notebook and pen, as well as details of your education and employment history.
