Join us for a delicious hands-on Chinese cookery class where you’ll learn to create three crowd-pleasing favourites from scratch.

Chinese takeaway is a tasty treat we all enjoy now and again. Come along and learn how to reduce the cost and improve the nutritional value in some of your favourite Chinese dishes so it doesn’t have to be just a treat anymore!

We’ll be making crispy Salt & Pepper Chicken, fragrant Baked Chinese-Style Rice, and fresh, flavour-packed San Choy Bow. Along the way, you’ll pick up practical tips and techniques for creating authentic Chinese-inspired flavours at home.

During this session you will prepare a variety of tasty Chinese favourites, including a starter, main and a side dish. You will learn more about the nutritional and cost benefits of homemade cooking and get some tips on how to present your dishes The meal you make will be well balanced, delicious, inexpensive and perhaps even quicker than waiting for a takeaway. You will take home what you make along with samples of the demonstration dish.

Perfect for food lovers of all skill levels - come along, cook, learn and enjoy a creating a delicious meal together!

You’ll work alongside your tutor, picking up useful hints and tips while building your skills and confidence. You’ll also receive copies of the recipes so you can recreate your favourites at home.

No previous experience is needed – just come along and enjoy having a go!

What will I learn?

During the session, you’ll learn some of the skills and techniques used to make three Chinese dishes.

  • Baked Chinese Style Rice
  • San Choy Bow (Chinese Mince in Lettuce)

You’ll explore different flavours and ingredients, practise simple preparation techniques, build confidence in your culinary skills, and pick up useful hints and tips to help you recreate the recipes at home.

What do I need to join the course?

No previous cookery experience is required. This session is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who would like to build their confidence in expanding their repertoire.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

All ingredients will be provided. Please bring an apron and some containers to take your dishes home in (small tubs / foil trays).
