The course is designed to give participants a general understanding of chemical safety and ensure compliance in line with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 (as amended).
The session will include identification of the types of substances, how they may be marked on packaging, the risk assessment process (including the Sevron Database), the suitability of personal protective equipment, health surveillance and what to do in the event of an emergency.

No prior knowledge of specific chemical safety arrangements are required. However, an awareness of any Chemical Safety Risk Assessments that might be present in your workplace may be useful to have, prior to attending the course.
If you have already attended a dedicated 'Safety Day', you do not need to attend this course. Please talk to your line manager in the first instance if you are unsure whether this course is suitable for you
If your course is delivered online:
You’ll need a reliable internet connection and a device such as a laptop, tablet or PC. A quiet space and headphones and a microphone are recommended for the best experience. Please be online and prepared when the session begins.
For face-to-face sessions:
Please bring a notepad or a device for making notes. Ensure you arrive promptly so the session can start on time.
You will be taught by an experienced trainer and will take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work.
