Do you want to know more about mental health? Maybe you are thinking of a new career, or you want to explore how gaining an improved awareness can help in your everyday life or work?
On this FREE, two-hour course, you will have an introduction to mental health awareness, find out more about our adult learning centres and meet some of our team, before deciding whether you want to continue to learn more.
You will understand what mental health awareness is all about and identify skills that may be beneficial in your work setting and personal life. You will also have the opportunity to find out what other courses are available, should you decide that you want to continue to learn more.
This course is FREE.
At East Riding Adult Learning and Employability we pride ourselves on the support we give to our learners, from the very first time you contact us, to the day you achieve your goals.
If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.
Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.
Enthusiasm to learn more! You do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of mental health issues to join this course.
You may find it useful to have a notebook and pen to make notes.
Once you’ve attended this course, you’ll be in a position to decide whether you wish to continue to learn more about mental health as well as general health and wellbeing courses. If so, then you may wish to progress to one of our other mental health awareness courses and your tutor will give you more information about this in the session.
If you want to try a different subject then we offer a range of opportunities in computer skills, English, maths, employability, creative skills, retail, photography, supporting teaching and learning in schools to name just a few.
You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
