Course details

Have you ever wondered how you would go about crocheting a hat, scarf or maybe a blanket? If so then you could get hooked on crochet with this FREE try course. Over two hours you will find out about how to create a basic crochet ‘stitch’ or two and about the unique items that you could be making if you join one of our follow on crochet courses. You will go home from this Try session, with your own, small hand crafted swatch of crochet. Having had a look around our Adult Learning centres and meeting some of our team you will be able to take the next step and book onto one of our longer courses.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

Enthusiasm to learn more! You do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of crochet to join this course.

What do I need to bring with me?

All craft materials will be supplied on the day. You may want to bring along a notebook and pen for any notes that you want to make.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught and supported by an experienced tutor and will take part in a range of activities including group work and individual work.

What can this course lead to?

You may wish to progress on to our Getting started with crochet course and your tutor will give you more information about this in the session. If you decide that crochet is not for you, your tutor will give you information about a range of other courses you may wish to take part in. We offer courses for learners aged 19+ in computer skills, English, maths and employability as well as a range of short courses such as craft, dressmaking, flower arranging, mindfulness, photography and much more.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
