If you’d like to gain a qualification, you might want to consider enrolling on one of our Essential Digital Skills courses, which will support you to improve your digital skills in a range of areas, from using devices and handling information, to creating and editing different types of files and also communicating and transacting online. An Essential Digital Skills qualification will support you to work safely and responsibly online and to study at a level that is right for you.

Our digital skills courses are available in all of our Adult Learning Centres and offer flexible start dates. Apply now and begin your journey to better English skills for life, work and everything in between.

What do I need to join the course?

Our Essential Digital Skills courses are aimed at adults who do not have a Level 2 qualification in ICT or digital skills (GCSE grade C / grade 4 or above). If you’ve achieved a digital skills qualification in the past and feel that you have a significant gap in your digital skills, please get in touch with us to discuss how we could help.

Whether you need to start with the basics or are looking to gain a digital skills qualification to help you in life and work, our courses provide a supportive and flexible learning environment to help you reach your goals.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

You should bring with you evidence of your identity (a passport, driving licence or birth certificate) and any qualification certificates you have.

What can I expect from 'Getting Ready For Digital Skills'?

When you apply for one of our digital skills courses, your journey will begin with our welcoming and supportive 'Getting Ready for Digital Skills’ programme. These initial sessions are your opportunity to meet with a friendly advisor who will take the time to understand your goals and why improving your digital skills is important to you.

You will also work with a qualified digital skills tutor to complete some skills checks; these are not tests, but a helpful way to identify your current level, recognise your strengths and highlight areas where you may benefit from further support. This process ensures that you are placed on the course that best matches your needs and aspirations.

As part of your course, you will find out what it’s like to learn with us; you’ll find out what you can expect from your learning experience, how we prioritise your safety and wellbeing and about our commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as the British values that shape our learning environment.

What qualifications can I get?

You can work towards nationally recognised Essential Digital Skills qualifications, which are available at Entry Level 3 and Level 1. These qualifications are widely respected by employers, training providers and educational institutions across the country. They not only boost your confidence but also enhance your CV, opening up new opportunities for work, further study and personal development.

We’ll help you to work out which digital skills course is right for you and we’ll support you to achieve the level that you need to reach your goals. We offer classes aimed at different levels, so you’ll always be in a group with others working at a similar level.
