Good basic English skills are essential for most jobs, for study in other subjects and for everyday life and work situations. If you’d like to improve your English skills in a way that works for you, read below to find out how we can help.
We have a choice of English courses that can help you to reach your goals; we can support you to work towards your own targets for developing your skills and we also offer a range of nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications.
In our Achieve Your English Goals course one of our friendly and supportive tutors will work with you to identify the areas of English you’d like to develop and together you will set your own targets to work towards.
If you’d like to gain a qualification to show off your skills, then we also offer focused 11-week Functional Skills courses that will enable you to develop your reading, writing, speaking, listening and communication skills and prepare you for sitting your assessments, at a level that is right for you.
Our English courses are available in all of our centres and online too, so you can choose whether you’d like to join us in the classroom or to log in from home and learn virtually. There’s no time like the present, so take the first step and apply today.
The safety of our learners and staff is always our top priority, so we’ve made some changes to our centres to minimise contact, including staggered start times for sessions.
If you’ve got any questions or concerns about staying safe in our centres, then please get in touch and we’d be happy to discuss this with you to make sure that you know what to expect if you choose to join us in centre.
The courses are aimed at learners who do not have a Level 2 qualification in English (GCSE grade C / grade 4 or above). Once we receive your application, we will give you a call and offer you an appointment to discuss what it is you’d like to learn with one of our advisers; you can choose whether you’d like to attend an appointment in centre, over the telephone or via Microsoft Teams video call, whichever suits you best.
You should bring with you evidence of your identity (a passport, driving licence or birth certificate) and any qualification certificates you have.
You will meet with one of our experienced advisers who will talk to you about what you want to achieve and why. It may be that you are looking to gain more English skills to support your children at school, to gain qualifications to help you find work or to give you more confidence when using English in everyday life. Whatever your reason to learn, we have a course option to suit you.
During your appointment you’ll complete some skill checks to find out what level of English you’re currently working at, what you are already good at and what it is you need to practice or learn. You’ll also discuss whether you would prefer to learn in one of our centres or virtually at home. Your adviser will then be able to help you to choose the right course and type of learning for you.
